Galesburg man arrested after holding woman at gunpoint

A Galesburg man is in the Knox County Jail on $100,000 bond after his arrest over the weekend.

23-year-old Terrance T. Norvell Jr. made a video appearance in Knox County Circuit Court on Monday where bail was set by Judge Patricia Walton.

Norvall faces felony charges of Unlawful Possession of a Weapon by a Felon and Unlawful Restraint. Additionally, he faces a misdemeanor aggravated assault charge.

Galesburg Police officers were dispatched to the 500-block of Iowa Court Saturday night at around 10:34 in reference to an individual pointing a gun at another. Once on scene, officers learned that an intoxicated Norvell was allegedly holding a woman against her will at gunpoint.

According to reports, the woman was able to step out of the residence and told officers she feared for her life.

Reports also indicate that at around 11:31, Norvell exited the residence and surrendered to police. A search of the premises led to the discovery of four firearms.

He will be back in Knox County Court on Monday, June 3rd, for a preliminary hearing.
