Two arrested in Fulton Co. after fleeing police

Two Canton residents are in the Fulton County Jail, awaiting their first appearance in court after sheriff’s deputies pursued them in a stolen vehicle and arrested them Wednesday morning.

46-year-old Shane A. Sorrenson was arrested on charges of possession of a stolen vehicle, aggravated fleeing and eluding police, possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, and numerous traffic offenses from the vehicle pursuit.

The other arrestee, 25-year-old Kaleigh A. Pokorny, is held on a Fulton County warrant of possession of methamphetamine and potentially additional charges from the vehicle pursuit. She is a suspect in the Tuesday theft of a vehicle from Pekin.

According to the Fulton County Sheriff’s Department, deputies were made aware that the stolen vehicle when the suspect was identified as being from Canton. At around 1:50 a.m., deputies located the vehicle in the area of Chestnut and 20th Avenue in Canton.

Deputies attempted to initiate a traffic stop on the car, and the driver, Sorrenson, allegedly led police on a pursuit that lasted around 15 minutes.

The pursuit ended when Sorrenson drove into a private residential drive in Western Peoria County and was said to have taken off on foot before being caught by police.

Assisting the sheriff’s department was Canton Police Department, Peoria County Sheriff’s Department, and Farmington Police Department.
