Trash pick-up will begin earlier than usual Wednesday through Friday this week, in both cities of Galesburg and Knoxville.
That means a 5:30 a.m. start time in Galesburg and a 6 a.m. start time in Knoxville.

The National Weather Service has issued an excessive heat watch that will be in effect from 1 p.m. Wednesday through 7 p.m. Saturday night.

Expected highs for the rest of the week are in the 90’s but because of humidity heat indexes should be well above 100.

At-risk populations include the elderly and the very young who are most susceptible to heat and heat-related illnesses. Additionally, pets should have plenty of water and shade to get out of the hot sun.
