Mrs. Beverly A. Morgan, 84, of Galesburg, Illinois died 9:42 a.m. Thursday, July 18, 2019, at Aperion Care, North, Galesburg. She was born June 14, 1935, in Burlington, Iowa to Louis Aaron and Lela Pearl (Throckmorten) Myers. She married James S. Battles in 1953 in Galesburg. She later married Willard “Bud” Morgan January 20, 1962, in Galesburg. He preceded her in death on April 30, 2018. Surviving are two sons, Kent Morgan of Big Springs, Texas and Steven Morgan of Springfield, Illinois, three daughters, Brenda (and Kurt) Woodman of Galesburg, Kay Pedigo of Galesburg, and Karla Mayes of Galesburg, two step-daughters, Karen Morgan of Galesburg and Kathy Gibbens of Lake of the Ozarks, Missouri, 18 grandchildren and 35 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Louis Michael Tropp.
Beverly graduated from Galesburg High School in 1953. After high school, she was a member of a professional square dancing team. She later graduated from Galesburg Beauty School in 1961. She was a hairdresser and owner of Martin’s Beauty Salon for 46 years and retired in 2007. She was a member of The Church Of Jesus Christ Of Latter-Day Saints in Galesburg. She was the past president of Weston Elementary P.T.A. She served and was the past president of Relief Society, Young Women’s Organization, and Primary. Beverly enjoyed cooking, baking, shopping, reading, and playing games and cards. The family would like to thank all the caregivers at Rosewood Care Center. You loved her and she loved you.
Visitation will be 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. Sunday, July 28, 2019, at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Service Galesburg Chapel. Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, July 29, 2019, at The Church Of Jesus Christ Of Latter-Day Saints, 1977 E. Fremont St., Galesburg with a visitation one hour prior to the service.
