The District 205 Board of Education officially approved the resignation of Galesburg High School head basketball coach Mike Reynolds on Tuesday.
The special meeting solely focused on approving a personnel report which includes some late hires, transfers, and resignations.
The 205 Board was expected to accept Reynolds’ resignation following his hiring in July as the head coach of the Dekalb High School boys’ basketball team.
There are still a number of vacancies that District 205 is hoping to fill by the time school starts on Aug. 16.
Those include areas where the Illinois teacher shortage has been felt acutely; math teachers and special education.
According to the board’s personnel report efforts to fill the vacancies have included posting on job banks and the District’s website, but also recruiting trips to all five state universities in Illinois.
