Bond has been set at $5,000 for a Galesburg man facing firearms felony charges.
25-year-old Jakob D. Hopkins made a video appearance in Knox County Circuit Court on Thursday where a judge set his bond and appointed him the public defender.
He’s being charged with Class 2 Possession of a Stolen Firearm and Class 3 Felon in Possession of a Firearm.
Charges stem from a Thursday Knox County arrest. According to reports, deputies on patrol saw vehicles unloading four-wheelers and attempted to make a stop.
Two individuals drove vehicles away from the scene, including the four-wheeler, while Hopkins was left behind.
Deputies allegedly saw part of what was later determined to be a stolen AR-15 in a bag.
A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for September 9th.
