Galesburg Police officers discovered cocaine and made two arrests after a traffic stop early Sunday morning.

According to a report, officers conducted a traffic stop in the area of West Simmons and South Academy streets at around 1:11 where two Galesburg men, 33-year-old Joshua Scannell, and 30-year-old Aaron Perez were arrested.

Perez was allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol. The report indicates offices had him conduct a field sobriety test, to which he showed signs of intoxication.

Scannell was a passenger in the vehicle. While conducting a search to impound the car, police found 1.5 grams of what would field test positive for cocaine.

On Monday, Scannell had a video-bond hearing in Knox County Circuit Court where bail was set at $1,500 and a preliminary hearing was scheduled for October 7th. He faces a single county possession of a controlled substance.

Perez posted ten percent of his $3,000 on Sunday.
