A 22-year-old Galesburg woman facing a single count of forgery will return to Knox County Circuit Court next month.

Judge Bruce C. Beal set Sabrina Baker’s bond and appointed the public defender’s office to her case.

She was arrested Tuesday afternoon after Galesburg police responded to Casey’s on West Main Street in Galesburg for a call of a fraudulent $20 bill being used.

Officers arrived and saw Baker outside of the business and she allegedly told police she didn’t know the bill was fake, according to police reports.

The bill was described as being smaller than normal currency and printed on poor quality paper.

She was arrested and the contents of her purse were searched through, leading officers to find debit cards, a state-issued I-D, a checkbook, a student I-D, and a health insurance card — all belonging to people other than Baker.

She’ll be back in court for a bond rehearing on September 6 and a preliminary hearing on September 24.
