Richard Carter, 65, of Galesburg, passed away at 8:25 a.m. Tuesday, September 10, 2019, at his home. He was born July 6, 1954, in Macomb, the son of James Riley Carter and Alma Lucille (Hall) Carter. He was married to Marjorie Bowling for 10 years and they divorced.   He then married Barbara (Smith) Mahnesmith in 1989 in Florida. Richard is survived by his loving wife, Barbara; two sisters, Pamela Morth of Monmouth and Shirley Hilton of Summerfield, Florida; adopted children, Amanda (Clark) Fancher of Galesburg, Tyler Davis of Wright City, Missouri and Chris Myers of Galesburg; his adopted grandchildren, Osiris Fancher, and Anubis Fancher. He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, Hillary June Carter and one sister, Nancy Carter. Richard had lived in Florida for over 20 years, where he worked as a screen print operator, and in Galesburg since 2010. He enjoyed working on cars. His hobbies included putting model cars together, watching TV and spending time with his adopted grandchildren.

Cremation will be accorded.   Private burial of Richard’s and Hillary’s ashes will be in the Abingdon Cemetery at a later date. Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services Abingdon Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements. Memorials may be made to the family in care of Barbara Carter, 783 N.
