Mr. Jeffrey P.“Cowboy” Finch, 65 of Galesburg died Tuesday, September 17, 2019, at his home. He was born November 13, 1953, in Galesburg to Mr. Frank and Clarine (Hasselquist) Finch. He married Kathy Diane Douglas on February 26, 1972, at Messiah Lutheran Church. Jeff is survived by his wife of 47 years, Kathy Finch of Galesburg, one son Michael C. (Holly) Finch of Bemidji, Minnesota, two daughters Brandy M. Finch of Hillview, Kentucky and Christy L. (Eric) Noggle of Springfield, Illinois; two sisters Rebecca (Bernard) Swanson and Sandra (Arthur) St. George, both of Galesburg. Also, surviving are his seven grandchildren; Lacey Williams, Jacob Williams, Tyler Olsen, Brett Olsen, Mallory Noggle, Evan Noggle, and Daisy Finch; two great-grandchildren, and numerous dear nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents and one brother Terry Malcolm. Jeff was a life-long resident of Galesburg. He graduated from Galesburg High School in 1972. While in school, Jeff was active in Cross Country, Wrestling and Track. Jeff was the owner and operator of Finch Construction where he performed general contract work including roofing and siding. Throughout his life, Jeff enjoyed many hobbies like fishing, hunting, woodworking, and gardening. He especially enjoyed and will be remembered for going to Cherry Street Restaurant & Bar for karaoke and dancing. He liked to spend time with his buddies at Custer’s Auto Shop and above all Jeff loved seeing his grandchildren. Cremation will be accorded. A Celebration of Jeff’s Life will be held at Cherry Street Restaurant & Bar at a later date.
