No injuries were reported after a fire consumed a truck in the 700-block of Pennsylvania Avenue in Galesburg.

According to a report, fire and police personnel responded to the vehicle, which was parked in a residential driveway, at around 7:00 p.m. where it was noted the vehicle had “heavy smoke coming from the engine compartment.”

Officers learned that the truck was a work vehicle that the homeowner was attempting to fix. He told police that he made numerous attempts to fix the vehicle but it hadn’t run in a month and was sitting in the driveway since.

The owner said he recently changed the fuel pump, telling police that he put starter fuel into the engine throttle before attempting to start it up.

When it started, he noticed a small fire in the front of the truck.

No additional property was damaged from the fire.
