The Knox County Board have a series of considerations at Wednesday night’s meeting.

A compensation study that had been in the works for well over a year could be approved at the meeting.

In May of last year, the board approved to hire PayPoint HR to conduct the compensation study to determine if the county’s payscales paid all employees fairly at all levels.

Due to a reported lack of participation from county employees during the data collection stage, the study was slow to get underway.

Last month, Finance Committee Chair David Amor spoke to the board and informed them that the final draft of the study was completed but there was still a little work to do on it.

While details aren’t public at this time, it’s believed this will have an impact on both union and non-union pay.

Board members could also approve a series of projects aimed at reducing the energy use of the county.

The energy efficiency project facilitated by SmartWatt costs the county nothing upfront and is to be paid for through energy bill savings seen over the next several years.

Work discussed in previous meetings included LED light replacements, boiler replacement, replacing older and less efficient air conditioning, as well as considering the addition of solar panels.

The Board was told previously there would be several projects with various levels of energy savings to pick from. Details of the projected work are not publicly available at this point.

Additionally, the board will consider opting in to allow the county to collect a zoning and retailer’s occupational tax for the sale of recreational cannabis.

The county board meets at the Galesburg City Council Chambers starting 6:00.
