Car seat checks and fundraisers this weekend

According to the National Highway Safety Traffic Administration, three out of four children’s car seats are installed incorrectly. There’s a free event Saturday, September 27th to help keep your family safe. The Community Car Seat Check event is being held Saturday, September 27th at the Galesburg Central Fire Station from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm. Families will receive a free car seat check from a certified child passenger safety technician. Seats will also be checked for expiration, manufacturers recalls, and a proper fit for the child’s age, height, and weight.

The Knoxville American Legion Quarter Auction is Saturday, September 27th. Organized by the Knoxville Women’s Auxiliary, doors open at 10:00 am with food served at 11:00 am.
Later Saturday, September 27th is the Gilson Fire Department Taco Bar Fundraiser. Beginning at 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm, the department will be serving tacos, rice, beans and drink all for a free-will donation.

First Baptist Church in Galva is hosting a Craft Sale Saturday, September 27th from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm. Located at 211 NW 4th Street, the craft show will have door prizes, a 50/50, lunch, and a bake sale. Admission is free and all proceeds will go towards Operation Christmas Child.

Hidden Hills Vineyard and Winery in Knoxville is hosting a “Sip N Stomp Wine Festival” Saturday, September 27th beginning at 1:00 pm. The family event is in celebration of the winery’s first big harvest season. Guests can try different wines, take tours, and even stomp grapes. The grape-stomp is non-alcoholic, so all ages are welcome. There will be live music, food trucks, and a street arts fair.

First Christian Church in Knoxville is hosting a Gospel Concert Saturday, September 27th. The concert is featuring Marty Smith, Joyful Noyz, and 5 Grand. The event will feature a live and silent auction plus a BBQ dinner for $6 from 5:00 pm to 6:45 pm with the concert beginning at 7:00 pm.
