The United Way of Knox County is kicking off their annual fundraising campaign Monday, September 30th. This year’s goal is $350,000. The United Way of Knox County is an independent, locally controlled, non-profit organization governed by a volunteer board of directors elected from the county that provides support to 22 programs at 18 human service agencies in Knox County. By partnering with other local agencies, the United Way is able to better recognize the needs of the community. “That collaboration creates efficiency too,” Executive Director Laun Dunn said. “If a donor is giving (to) United Way, and we’re making sure that all of the need-based agencies are covered in the community – or as many as we possibly can, that stretches that donor dollar farther than it would as just a one-off donation.”  To help kick-off this year’s fundraising campaign, the United Way of Knox County his hosting a Guest Bartender Night at Cherry Street on Monday, September 30th. From 5:00pm to 8:00pm guest bartenders will be serving drinks looking to fill their respective tip jars and earn bragging rights to raising the most. The event will include signature drinks, appetizers, and games. For more information on United Way of Knox County and how to volunteer and donate, visit United Way of Knox County website.
