The Knox-Galesburg Symphony Masterworks Series presents Dance, Dance, Revolution on Saturday, October 19th. This will be new Music Director Vlad Vizireanu’s premier concert as maestro. The program will feature some of the most exciting and dance-worthy works available for symphony orchestra. “In this case, I thought – well let’s do some dance music that would have never been danced,” Vizireanu said. “I thought to myself, Dance, Dance, Revolution, if you remember, is this game that I have never had the courage to dance myself. I just thought it was awesome. It’s this incredible thing that my generation and maybe the generation before me would recognize. I figured it’s a nice way to kind of bring people into the concert hall and demystify this process.” The Bartok will consist of Romanian Dances for String Orchestra that one would typically hear at a Romanian wedding. The Debussy will feature “Danse Sacree et Profane” featuring harpist Jordan Thomas. The final concert piece is Rachmaninov’s symphonic dances featuring the alto saxophone. The concert begins at 7:30 pm. Tickets start at $20 for the main floor, those with a Knox College student ID are free, and students with an ID or those 18 and below are $5.  For tickets visit the Knox-Galesburg Symphony online, Galesburg Orpheum online, or visit the Orpheum Theatre box office.
