Jazz in the Barn

$5Pianist Daniel Leahy and friends will bring swing, bebop and Latin sounds to the Carl Sandburg State Historic Site on Oct. 22.
Leahy is a pianist, vocalist, arranger and producer, and has performed throughout the world. His performances are steeped in the Great American Songbook and jazz standards, with his originals mixed in.
He is known for introducing audiences, particularly children, to the world of jazz. Leahy performs in the Sandburg site’s barn at 313 E. Third Street, Galesburg. The show starts at 7 p.m. and ends at 9 with a break for refreshments around 8. A donation of $5 per person is suggested.
The concert is sponsored by the Illinois Historic Preservation Agency and the Carl Sandburg Historic Site Association.
Carl Sandburg was a collector and performer of America’s folk songs. The series is named in honor of Sandburg’s book “The American Songbag,” published in 1927.
