The Knox College Choir Fall Concert

November 6, 2016 @ 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm

Free
The Knox College Choir, directed by Laura Lane, presents its Fall Concert at 3 p.m. on Sunday, November 6, in Kresge Recital Hall, Ford Center for the Fine Arts on the Knox College campus. The concert is free and open to the public.
The concert features a new work by British composer Jonathan Dove, “Seek Him That Maketh the Seven Stars.” The piece features Casey Dierlam on a virtuosic piano part and the choir in rhythmically and harmonically complex parts that build to a dramatic climax. “This is one of the most challenging works we’ve tried to do in the Knox College Choir and the students are doing a terrific job,” says Lane, professor of music and director of choral activities at Knox. “It’s thrilling to stand in front of them and hear their beautiful, strong sound at the climax of the piece.”
Concert selections span musical eras and genres, including a movement from Brahms’ greatest choral masterwork to a Mongolian folk song to a moving tribute by a Scottish composer written after a shooting in a Dunblane Primary School. Featured soloists include Madeline Pape, Meghan Mohn, Samuel Fredericksen, Miranda Curtis, Ellie Baird, and David Petrak.
The Knox College Choir tours every year, with a European tour every three years. The choir has performed regularly in Barcelona and the Catalán region of Spain, with other concert tours to England, Austria, Czech Republic, Washington, D.C., Memphis, Nashville, and New Orleans. In 2005 and 2013, the Choir performed at Carnegie Hall in New York City.
