Seasonal Flu Reaches Fever Pitch
The Knox County Health Department is reminding residents to get their seasonal flu vaccine.

47 states have reported widespread flu activity according to the Centers for Disease Control.

Reported cases around the country have crowded emergency rooms in recent weeks, but the CDC suggests we may have seen a peak.

In Knox County, there have been no reported deaths, but the Knox County Health Department is urging residents to get vaccinated.

Wellness Promotion Supervisor Erin Olson tells WGIL they are still waiting on information on the severity from the State.

"We are seeing across the state you know an increase in flu activity and by getting your flu vaccinations this will help you know lower possibly the severity if you do get the seasonal flu it possibly lower the severity of it or possibly help you not get that seasonal flu."

The Knox Health Department suggests practicing the three C's: cleaning hands, covering coughs, and containing the illness.

Olson recommends staying home from work if you are infected with a fever or chills.
