Knox College Shows its International Side
Hundreds of Galesburg residents likely now have a better idea of just how diverse the Knox College campus is.

Yesterday marked the 32nd time Knox College hosted its International Fair -- featuring food, entertainment from the countries that make up the Knox student body, a parade of flags, and attention to international issues.

The latter is the reason junior Tom Courtright took part.

"I am running the booth for Visualiza, a Guatemalan [organization] that provides eye health services for the poorest of the country. They're great folks that are trying to do a lot in a country that has about nothing."

Courtright worked for the organization for a time last summer, and tells WGIL he thinks he can help them more.

"I realize I really wanted to do more for them, that I could play a constructive role by fundraising in the states. Nobody knows about Visualiza. They're really low scale."

Other booths represented various countries and global concerns, while food represented countries from Vietnam to Poland.

Courtright says he loves that people come and want to see all the college's cultural representations.
