Man Convicted of Felony Sex Charges
A Canton man has been convicted in Knox County of sexually abusing a girl under the age of 13 almost five years ago.

Knox County Circuit Court records indicate 34 year old Ryan Voice was convicted following a two-day bench trial on a Class-X felony charge of Predatory Criminal Sexual Assault.

Judge Paul Mangieri, though, acquitted Voice of less serious charges of Sexual Exploitation of a Child.

Voice was charged in 2010 with the abuse that allegedly occurred two years earlier. Then, records indicate, a grand jury indicted Voice on the same charges in May of 2011. The first day of the bench trial was back in December.

Knox County Assistant State's Attorney Elisa Tanner says the victim herself and other family members testified in the case, as did representatives of the Knox County Child Advocacy Center, whom she gives some of the credit for the successful prosecution of the case.

Voice will be sentenced April 11th. He faces anywhere between six and 60 years in prison. Voice has no other criminal record in Knox County.
