School Dismissed Early for ROWVA
After spending the past two weeks off because of winter break it was time for students at ROWVA to head back to school.

Just after eight o'clock Monday morning one of the excavators working on the new school hit a gas line that was missed marked causing a gas leak.

Superintendent Lloyd Little tells WGIL junior high students were moved into the high school gymnasium before a final decision was made on whether to resume classes or not.

"After about thirty minutes we determined the odor was only going to become stronger in the building so we determined in the best interest and safety of the students we needed to dismiss school."

Little says once the dismissal was decided on the buses were turned around and parents notified.

He says the school was dismissed by nine-thirty without incident or injury.

Ameren was called to the school where the leak was capped.

Little says Ameren will have to reroute the gas line because it was under the corner of the school and once the line is rerouted the gas will be turned back on.

School should resume as planed Tuesday.
