Tourism Council Looks To Fill Vacancy
With the arrest of Orpheum Theatre's Managing Director Josh Damewood on charges of Aggravated Criminal Sexual Assault and the fall out from his arrest the Tourism Council is left with a vacancy on their board.

Damewood was a voting member of the board representing the Orpheum--at the December meeting was appointed Vice Chair.

Now the Council is looking at moving positions around to make room for another voting member to replace Damewood.

The Council was looking at making the Discovery Depot their newest voting member and potentially replacing the Orpheum's position.

"What we'd like to do is switch the Galesburg Historical Society to an event, the arts and events, which is the category the Orpheum was under and then make a detraction slot available so the Discovery Depot can be in that position," says Judy Gunseth.

Gunseth continued to say they'd like to still receive reports from the Orpheum regarding what was going on.

However, the idea of removing the Orpheum from the Council didn't go over too well.

Alderman Wayne Dennis pointed out the removal of the Theatre from the board could receive potential back lash from the Knox County Civic Authority Board.

It was also pointed out that the Orpheum has been apart of the Tourism Council for as long as anyone on the board could remember.

With that being said there was some discussion on redoing the by-laws so they could add another position on the Council to make room for the Orpheum.

The only action taken on the matter was approving changing the category the Galesburg Historical Association falls under--the rest was tabled for the next meeting in April.
