Community Relations Commission Refocusing
The Community Relations Commission met Tuesday night to go over a fairly light agenda.

With just four items on the agenda there was a lot to cover.

The Commission was looking at refocusing their purpose--Commission Chair John Hunigan told Commission Members he thought they were getting off their path just a bit.

"A couple Commissioners have come to me and said you know we're enjoying some of the things that we're doing we're just a little concerned that some of the domestic violence, like some of the violence issues that have happen in the community, even though these things need to be addressed do they really fall under what our Commission, our ordinance is suppose to encompass. Are we ya know still making sure that we're focused on issues of discrimination and things like that."

The Commission talked at length about how they could refocus their mission.

They talked about bringing in representatives from District 205 and Carl Sandburg College to discuss what they're doing to diversify their staff.

Commission members did say they'd like to continue to hold Town Halls on issues but to do it every six months and have it as an open meeting for the public to attend and participate.
