Warren County Public Library Looks Into New Program
The science department at Monmouth College is cleaning house and moving equipment from their current science center to a new Center for Science and Business.

When Assistant Professor of Chemistry Brad Sturgeon was going through the inventory of equipment he came upon a six-foot fish tank and a three-foot filter system.

Sturgeon tells WGIL he knew the tank and filter were not going to be transported to the new Center and wanted to put the tank to good use.

"I took this fish tank and I talked with the library in downtown Monmouth - which is the Warren County Public Library - and I met with the youth librarian there about how we would do this," says Sturgeon. "She talked with her people, I talked with my people and today that six foot tall window is sitting in the front window at the Warren County Library."

Sturgeon says the tank is currently empty but he's working with a local plumber to install the water supply.

He says they also built a supporting wall for the tank under the floor so it can hold the one ton tank.

The fish will be added at a later date--all the fish will be native to Illinois.
