Man Threatens Officer, Arrested for Spitting
Galesburg Police responded just after 2am Monday near East Knox and South Pearl Streets in Galesburg.

A man identified as 24 year old Nathan Nicholson was reportedly unresponsive inside a running vehicle allegedly with a bottle of Patron spilling into his lap.

Officers tried to wake Nicholson, but he remained unresponsive even after opening the drivers side door and tumbling onto the pavement.

Once awake, Nicholson allegedly hurled expletives at the officers and confused his address with his date of birth when asked to provide his information.

Galesburg Police decided to perform a field sobriety test and breathalizer. After agreeing to give a breath sample, Nicholson allegedly missed the straw on purpose leaving the officer's uniform covered in spit.

Nicholson was placed in handcuffs where he allegedly threatened the officers with physical violence. Officers searched the vehicle and also located what appeared to be a bag of cannabis.

Once inside the Public Safety Building, he requested a phone call and knocked the phone off the counter.

He is being charged with Driving Under the Influence, Driving without insurance and under a suspended license, aggravated battery, threatening a public official, and possession of cannabis.
