Storm Drops 7 Inches of Snow on Galesburg
Galesburg got what the meteorologists called for Tuesday, receiving 7 inches of snowfall.

The City had reported 5 inches by mid-morning Tuesday according to the National Weather Service.

Due to the high temperature of 35, a lot of the snow melted, preventing further accumulation but what stuck around was heavy and wet, making it difficult to shovel.

City crews were clearing streets throughout the day, Tuesday - clearing most of the major roadways by the early afternoon.

Knoxville reported similar accumulation of four inches by mid-morning Tuesday.

Around the area: the National Weather Service says parts of Mercer County reported 3.8 inches of snowfall, parts of McDonough County saw 4.5 inches, sections of Warren County reported 3.5 inches, Fulton County only got 1.8 inches, and Henry County reported 5 inches of snowfall.

Galesburg, Knoxville, and Monmouth were all in a snow emergency Tuesday because of the accumulating snowfall.

The Weather Service says another snowfall could be possible Monday night into Tuesday of next week.
