City Working To Fill Potholes
With Winter comes snow, ice, salt and potholes.

This time of year is when people start to notice more and more potholes as they drive down the road.

The road tends to be softer because of all the moisture that gets trapped in the road.

City Engineer Wayne Carl tells WGIL the pothole problem isn't in just one area but around the whole City.

"It's pretty much spread out all over town," says Carl. "Roads that are getting to the point where they need to be resurfaced or reconstructed at some point, they're going to have more pot holes. I would say like Monmouth Boulevard will probably have a few more than some of the recent streets we've done."

Carl says East Main Street headed out of town near the Hardee's is one of the worse areas in town.

That road is scheduled to be resurfaced by IDOT sometime this year or next.

He says the City tries to patch any potholes that are reported or they come across.

To report a pothole call the City.
