More Issues with Redistricting
(IRN) -- The fallout from the proposed redistricting continues. Illinois House Minority Leader Tom Cross (R-Oswego) says it’s "disingenuous" for the controlling Democrats in the House to release their proposal in the late afternoon Friday, two days before a public hearing.

Cross says perhaps the states which use a computer to draw the new districts have the right idea.

Ethnic minority groups are hoping they will gain representation -- the example held up time and time again this year has been Chicago's Chinatown neighborhood: split up into four districts 10 years ago such that no district had a good chance of electing someone from Chinatown. State Rep. Toni Berrios (D-Chicago), co-chairman of the Illinois legislature's Latino caucus, says she represents the fastest-growing ethnic group in the state and says a federal court ruling is that the minority-influenced districts be drawn first.
