Master Facilities Plan Updates Going Online
The company essentially in charge of the first phase of the Galesburg School District's Master Facilities Plan has a way for the public to easily be updated on the status of the project.

Davenport-based Russell Construction has put together a website called galesburg2020.com that will go live within a week, with reports and pictures of the construction work going on at Lombard and Steele Schools first -- like the fact that wells being drilled for the new geothermal heating and cooling system at Lombard are almost complete.

Russell Construction Marketing and Client Relations Director Angela Bagby says the new site is a work in progress, but should keep the public up to date.

"You'll see news items from every project that's going on. Right now, there's more to be said, probably, about one over the other, so there might be more listed currently," Bagby said. "But this will be a section for anyone to log in and figure out what's going on with what the milestones look like, and what's kind of happening."

Bagby says the site is about 95-percent complete currently, but Master Facilities Committee members urged Bagby to include more information about why the geothermal systems are being installed, since some claim that's been one of the bigger questions they've gotten recently.

The committee Thursday also went over design work to be done at Lombard and Steele. Steele is expected to have a a wood facade in parts, along with a stone veneer.
