Work Almost Done on Lake Storey Liquor Ordinance
The City of Galesburg's Liquor Advisory Commission is receiving praise from the man who formed the commission for work they're about to finally complete.

Mayor Sal Garza this week gave kudos to the Commission for their work crafting an ordinance that if approved, would allow for sales of beer and wine at Lake Storey Pavilion during special events.

There's still a little bit of work left to do, but Garza likes what he's seen so far for something the public wants.

"There's been a substantial request from community members for us-- to at the minimum consider and of course at the most to develop recommendations-- so that the city council would be the final authority," They're going to either support this or not support this, or maybe support this with some adjustments."

The Commission Monday did change its stance on part of the ordinance somewhat. They would now like to see glass containers full of alcohol being sold as well as keg beer-type sales.

At issue was a concern of being able to host wedding receptions where, for example, bottles of champagne would be found at every table.
