Financial Blueprint Rolled Out Months in Advance by Health Officials
The Knox County Health Department is more prepared for the upcoming fiscal year than it's been in it's twenty years of existence.

Administrator Heidi Britton unveiled the proposed financial blueprint at Thursday night's Board of Health meeting. The current fiscal year ends November 30th-- meaning the final edition of next year's budget isn't due to the county board until August at the earliest.

While it's only a draft, Britton tells board members the health department is "way ahead of the game."

"The skeleton is there, most of the meat is there, but it's not fully done yet," Britton said. "And part of that is because we're only a 'x' number of months into the fiscal year we're currently in. So we'll want to get a couple more months of actuals so we can really solidify what the numbers will be both on the revenues and expenses side."

One reason the budget is being rolled out so early is because of the department's new SAGE Accounting software.

Britton commends Business Manager Jerome Townsell for his expertise in delivering an easy-to-understand product. It's format is more legible and it breaks down expenditures and revenues for each area of the health department.

Health officials are anticipating to spend and bring in approximately $2.393 million dollars during fiscal 2013.
