Abuse Reports at Illinois Nursing Home Being Investigated
OTTAWA, Ill. (AP) -- The LaSalle County chairman says employees at the county-support nursing home are cooperating with investigators looking into reports a male resident sexually abused 10 female residents.

A report out from the Illinois Department of Public Health found the nursing home failed to prevent the abuse. Patients and nursing home employees interviewed in the report said the male resident targeted female residents with dementia or who couldn't speak.

The abuse started in December and lasted until June 5, when the male resident was moved to an inpatient psychiatric unit.

Authorities say no criminal charges have been filed in the cases and any fines against the nursing home would come from the U.S. Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.
