Woman Accused of Driving Drunk and Crashing into Galesburg Underpass
A 35-year-old Galesburg woman is accused of driving into an underpass while drunk and then ditching the vehicle at a railroad crossing.

Galesburg Police say Christie Bramlett was discovered walking northbound in the 200-block of North Seminary Street just after 12am Wednesday morning. Moments earlier, they say her Chevy convertible had struck the underpass at East South and South Seminary Street.

The vehicle was left near North Seminary and East North Street by where a train was passing. A police report indicates an open beer can had spilled in her front passenger seat. A strong odor of alcohol, police say, could be detected on Bramlett.

Bramlett gave consent to multiple sobriety tests and even a breathalyzer. Police say her preliminary blood alcohol content registered at twice the legal limit.

It's unclear how much damage was caused to the vehicle. However, police say $200-dollars in damage was administered to the underpass.

Bramlett was cited for DUI, Failure to Reduce Speed to Avoid an Accident, and Leaving the Scene of an Accident. She was also arrested on an active warrant for meth-related charges filed earlier this year.

A court appearance is pending.
