Man Arrested for Allegedly Battering Galesburg Police
A 24-year-old Galesburg man is accused of battering and resisting police officers following a domestic dispute just before 9:30pm Monday night.

Police say not more than two minutes after departing 213 Pine Street for an initial disturbance, they returned to find Matthew Stout physically beating his 42-year-old uncle. Records show Stout attempted to elude a takedown by police, and started kicking officers.

Stout allegedly began shouting "Taze me, Taze me," as he was dragged out front to a patrol car. Police say he continued to connect on his kicks, and even kicked the doors of the vehicle while detained inside.

Authorities took into evidence from the scene a knife Stout had allegedly held to his own neck before scuffling with his relative.

Stout's uncle told police he didn't want to pursue charges against his nephew-- whom police say was extremely intoxicated. They transported him to a Galesburg hospital where he was medically cleared to be processed at Knox County Jail.

Stout is awaiting a bond hearing on charges of Aggravated Battery of a Peace Officer and Resisting a Peace Officer-- two counts each.
