Reaction Mixed to Romney VP Choice
A Vice Presidential pick that was said in some reports to be of interest to both Republicans and Democrats alike is a little more partisan locally.

Local Congressmen and Congressional candidates quickly issued statements Saturday after Presidential candidate Mitt Romney picked Wisconsin Congressman Paul Ryan to be his running mate in the November election.

18th District Congressman Aaron Schock says he works out every morning with Ryan while in Washington, and says the pick was "exhilarating."

The Peoria Republican says Ryan's an intellectual, and "one of the most admmirably principled people in our government."

Schock praises Ryan for being one of only a few politicians to have provided an honest assessment of the nation's financial situation.

Schock faces Mason County Democrat Steve Waterworth in November. He's so far not offered his reaction.

17th District Congressman Bobby Schilling says Ryan's choice is bold, and he's a forward-thinker. He says that's in contrast to his opponent Cheri Bustos, who claims she'd bring "Pat Quinn economics to Washington."

Bustos, meanwhile, says Ryan and Schilling want seniors and the middle class among others to keep sacrificing while millionaires keep getting tax breaks.
