Car Dealership Open at New Spot
A longtime staple in downtown Galesburg is officially on Henderson Street now.

After closing for the weekend on Friday at its North Broad Street home, Galesburg Nissan has moved to North Henderson Street, near Sandburg Mall and the site of the former Galesburg Toyota Honda location. The new store officially opened Monday.

Owner Jeff Klinck tells the WGIL Morning News it turned out to be a lot of work to get the dealership from one lot to the other.

"We were 65 years at the old location downtown, and you accumulate a lot of files and a lot of things you wonder if you even need," Klinck said. "We've got it all [at the new location], and we've got it up and running."

Klinck says a lot of remodeling and other work has gone into the North Henderson Street location ahead of the move.

That's in addition to paperwork being filed with the Illinois Secretary of the State.

Galesburg Toyota, meanwhile, has moved into a new building at Seminary Square Shopping Center. Ameren has purchased the Broad Street lot as part of an ongoing environmental cleanup effort.
