One School District Is Seeing Green
There are not many school districts that can say they have managed to balance their budget, but the Abingdon School District can.

At last nights School Board Meeting the board approved the current budget and Superintendent David Black says even with a significant cut in state funding the district was still able to balance the budget.

Black tells WGIL how the district has managed to stay in the green

"Our district has had a balanced budget for the past few years and we're continuing. We spend wisely, we try not to spend anything unless it's needed, but yet we try to spend on what is required to provide what is a quality education for the students of the district."

Black say any cut in state aid hurts but saving wisely and new staff helped keep the current budget from going into a deficit.

The state cut more than four-hundred-thousand dollars from the districts current budget.
