Hare, Schilling Make Final Pushes in Galesburg
Two of the candidates for the local seat in Congress are making their last pushes before election day.

Both Republican Bobby Schilling and 17th District Democratic Incumbent Phil Hare made campaign stops in Galesburg Thursday, and Schilling has one scheduled for Friday evening in Monmouth.

Schilling tells WGIL he's still telling voters he can help, in his words, take our country back.

"Give the government back to the people, give the power back to the people," Schilling said. "The government's taking over so many things. They've shoved through so many bills that are really hurting our country."

Schilling met with supporters at Standish Park. Meantime, Hare was at the Knox County Democratic Party Headquarters, and says he thinks he'll do better Tuesday night than the polls seem to indicate.

"The different places that I've been, and the people that I see, have been working so hard," Hare said, "that, I believe, this election is going to be won on the ground."

Hare, though, believes that some Democratic seats in Congress up for Tuesday will turn to the GOP, but he hopes that everyone will somehow be able to work together.
