Hare, Gutierrez Predict Health Care Reform Future
As the national health care debate moves to the U.S. Senate, two Illinois congressmen are making their predictions. U.S. Reps. Phil Hare (D-Rock Island) and Luis Gutierrez (D-Chicago) voted for reform, and anxiously await a decision from the Senate.

Gutierrez expects that the Senate will likely pass its own plan, throwing the House plan to a conference committee. Hare predicts it'll take good old-fashioned arm twisting for the Senate to pass any version of reform. Hare also says he's disappointed in Sen. Joe Lieberman (I-Conn.) for threatening to filibuster in his chamber to prevent a vote.

No one's betting on a quick resolution. Sen. Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nevada) has yet to schedule floor debate and hinted last week that senators may not be able to finish health care this year.
