Santa Rescued From Roof
Santa was stuck on a roof yesterday and it took the heroism of the Galesburg Fire Department to get him down.

The annual Galesburg Holiday Festival took place yesterday afternoon as hundreds of residents lined Main Street hoping to not only catch a glimpse of Santa, but their favorite float as well.

It didn't take long for fire crews to remove Santa from the roof of First Mid-Illinois Bank and Trust, but the reason Santa was up there in the first place is the more important story.

Santa tells WGIL the fire department helps him out during these mishaps - but he wasn't driving the sleigh this year.

These guys just come through for me every year," says Santa. "You know, Mrs. Claus was driving this year, but don't tell her I said that."

Once Santa was rescued, the children of Galesburg didn't hesitate to tell him their present requests.

The parade was fun for all ages as it lasted for about an hour.

Santa tells WGIL there was no way any of the children he spoke to were getting coal this year.
