Black Thursday Hits Galesburg
The Wal-Mart parking lot was full nearly two hours before items went on sale at eight o'clock last night.

Dozens of people were placing their hands on pallates of toys, household products, and electronics waiting for the start of the sales.

Some of the shoppers I talked to had been there since the early afternoon, but others had just shown up.

Jacklyn Brown recently moved to Galesburg, she tells WGIL she had been waiting for the sale to begin for 30 minutes or so.

"I guess it's a nice socializing occassion," says Brown. "We all like shopping."

The Galesburg Police K-9 unit was present just to make sure crowds didn't get out of control.

Several reports around the country were speculating that the Black Thursday events were retaliation by Wal-Mart against workers planning to walk out on the job on Black Friday.

For the employees at Wal-Mart in Galesburg, several of them tell WGIL they would rather get paid than risk getting fired.
