Knoxville Native Publishes Book on Weight Loss
A Knoxville native who's now a doctor in Georgia has published a book that suggests you can eat real food and still lose weight -- especially over the holidays.

Doctor Amber Larson French signed copies of her book "Wellness 100" Saturday at Stone Alley Books in Galesburg. She's developed a plan that you can eat food that's both healthy and satisfying.

French tells the WGIL Morning News her book is based on a whole lot of research and can work for anyone, but is part of a program originally developed for women.

"A few years ago, I did a second board certification in anti-aging and functional medicine," French said. "It was about nutrition, and how to prevent the diseases of aging naturally -- prevent diabetes and heart disease, and all through nutrition, and herbs, and those types of things. I developed a program for my patients, because my patients are mostly menopausal women, who are going 'How come I can't lose weight? Why don't I feel good?'"

French says her plan, worked on with a patient of hers who formerly ran a restaurant, caused both of them to lose weight, so they felt it needed to be put into a book.

"Wellness 100" contains not only tips for staying healthy, but also a number of recipes.

The book is available at Stone Alley, but is also an e-book.
