Galesburg Shows Up For Elections
Galesburg resident's came out in full force Tuesday to cast their ballots. 66 percent of Galesburg residents voted in this years election.

Election Commission Chair Bill Butts tells WGIL the total number of voters was very impressive, but the number of early voters was even more impressive and those early votes could be why people were able to get in and out of polling places without major issues.

"We had about 25 percent of our vote that was early voting," says Butts. "As a result of that, it contributed to, even though some of the lines were long, we can be assured it would've been a lot longer if it wasn't for early voting."

More than twelve-thousand ballots were cast and more than two-thousand of those were early voters.

Butts says the public seemed very fired up about this years election and you can clearly see that in the number of those who came out and voted.

He says for the most part the day went smooth, there were a few complications but that was to be expected.

In Knox County, outside of Galesburg 71 percent of people voted.
