DNA Motion in Fatal Knox Student Case
State's Attorney John Pepmeyer filed a motion requesting DNA samples from a Galesburg woman accused of hitting a Knox College student with her car.

33 year old Lakeesha Smith appeared in Knox County Court this morning to schedule a preliminary hearing.

That was before Pepmeyer told Judge James Stewart of the State's motion requesting D-N-A samples.

Smith was arrested the morning of October 28th for allegedly hitting Knox College student Lawani with her car on South street in Galesburg.

Smith had her bond set at 100-thousand dollars after her bond hearing nearly two weeks ago.

A hearing on the State's motion is scheduled for November 13th.

Smith's preliminary hearing is scheduled for November 19th.
