School Board Moves Forward With Tax Levy and Money Transfers
The Knoxville School Board had a rather short meeting Monday night.

The main discussion focused on approving the 20-12 property tax levy and the transfer of funds.

Superintendent Steven Wilder tells WGIL the board had no problems approving the funds but the transfer of money from the site and construction fund into the bond and interest fund took a little more work.

"That's an unusual transfer so it took us a little while to make sure we dotted the I's and crossed the T's but after working with our attorney as well as our auditor as well as contacting the state board we got the green light that that was going to be okay and the board approved those transfers," says Wilder.

Wilder says the money transferred into the bond and interest fund will go to help pay the districts portion of the new high school project.

The board also approved the 20-12 tax levy at four-point-two-nine percent per one hundred dollars of assessed valuation.

Wilder says that rate is slightly higher than last years and property owners are looking at around penny difference between 20-11 and 20-12.
