New School District Makes Progress
District 276 met Tuesday night to get a few things on their long list of to do's taken care of.

The district is still in search of a name, mascot and colors but they have received a few submission.

However, in the next couple of days the district will have a functioning website.

D-2-76-dot-net will be up and running in the next day or so and besides having meeting agendas and board minutes on the site it will also have a survey asking community members what the new district name should be.

Board member Jeannie Serven suggested to the board there be a field for people to provide details behind their naming choice.

"Could we ask for a rationale as for why they chosen that name and the reason why is: at the last meeting, my husband was sitting up in the crowd and he spoke with that gentleman from IASB. He's from the PORTA district and he explained how they got the name PORTA and I didn't know how they got it," says Serven.

The board agreed having asking people to give some background to behind the name they've picked would help make their decision easier.

The survey will ask for your name, address and email in and effort to eliminate people submitting more than one idea.

If students want to suggest a name the schools will set aside a day after winter break for students to take advantage of the online submissions.
