It Takes A Village
Members of the Galesburg community came out Wednesday night for the Community Awareness meeting.

The meeting was a combined effort between Pastors from First and Second Baptist Church.

The purpose was to talk about and hopefully shed light on the tragedy that hit the small town of Newtown Connecticut last Friday.

The night started with a prayer for all those lost to violence and a moment of silence for those lost in the Newton tragedy.

Members of the church and community spoke to the crowd expressing the need as a community to find a way to prevent something like this ever happening in Galesburg.

Pastor Dan Siems from First Baptist Church spoke to the crowd and expressed his concerns regarding the family dynamic or lack there of in todays society.

"I think part of it is we have so much activity. Some of my children can't make AWANA becasue they have basketball, and then they have soccor, an then they have homework, and then they have this play and that play. When do we stop? When do we take a break?"

Siems told the crowd one community in Pennsylvania actually got together and decided they would take a break.

The whole community got together and decided there would be one night where noting was going on around town in the hope families would spend quality time with one another.
