Housing Authority Supports Annual Plan
It might not mean much to the operations of the Knox County Housing Authority, but annual filing to the government is ready.

The Housing Authority's Board of Commissioners today approved filing the annual document with the Department of Housing and Urban Development.

In part, the document keeps the authority eligible for federal money, which outgoing executive director Margie Hulick says could mean as much as one-point-five million dollars for the authority's properties.

Could, Hulik tells Comission member Paul Stewart, but probably won't.

"We'll be lucky to get a 700 or 800 thousand dollar [grant] from the way things have been going," says Hulick. "We used to get a million or better for our capital grant funds, but it's been going down every year."

Hulick says the Housing Authority is diligent about applying for federal and other grants that could help make up some of that annual shortfall.

This was Hulick's last meeting as Executive Director, as she's stepping down after over five years, due to health concerns. Assistant Director Derek Antoine will ascend to the top spot.
