Bond Reduction Denied For Man Accused In Pot Bust
A Galesburg man accused of having a role in a marijuana distribution operation busted up last week by several law enforcement agencies won't see his bond reduced.

Knox County Circuit Court records indicate Judge Paul Mangieri today denied a reduction of 23-year old William Powell's 100-thousand dollar bond.

Public Defender Dan O'Brien had asked, according to court records, that Powell's bond be cut in half to 50-thousand dollars, calling the original amount, quote "oppressive."

Powell, 27-year old Chaston Gomez, 35-year old Kyle Kaminski, and 38-year old Forest Norville all were arrested on multiple felony drug-related charges as part of a police sting, after a package containing around five-pounts of cannabis was delivered to Norville's Indiana Drive home.

Police believe the four conspired to have more than 40 pounds of pot delivered to this area over the past six months.

Kaminski is scheduled to have a court appearance tomorrow, Norville on Monday, and Gomez December 17th.

Powell will be back in court in January.
