Attorney Withdraws For Man Accused in Pot Operation
The public defender that was assigned to one of four Galesburg men accused of taking part in a marijuana distribution operation has withdrawn.

That was learned during a brief hearing in Knox County Circuit Court Friday morning in the case of 35 year old Kyle Kaminski.

Kaminski and three others were arrested almost two weeks ago after it was learned that a shipment of roughly five pounds of marijuana was being mailed to a home on Indiana Drive.

Public Defender Jim Harrell told Judge James Stewart he can't represent Kaminski because he's had discussions with a woman identified in court as a confidential source.

Stewart then appointed someone with the firm of Statham, Long, and Mitchell to represent Kaminski, and scheduled a hearing for Monday at nine am.

Kaminski previously told authorities, according to police reports, that he was running the drug scheme.

Kaminski, 23 year old William Powell, 27 year old Chaston Gomez, and 38 year old Forest Norville all remain held in the Knox County Jail on $100,000 bond apiece.

All face multiple felony drug possession and delivery-related charges.
